Prescription Hormone Therapy

Menopause is your body’s way of telling you that your hormones are changing.
Menopause, by definition, is the absence of a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months.

Symptoms related to these hormonal changes can occur for many years before and after the actual date of menopause and affect each woman differently.

Menopause phases

Wondering where you are? It’s important to know menopause has different phases. And even more important to know which one you’re in.

Postmenopause

Once you’ve gone 12 months without a period, you’re in postmenopause. This stage basically describes the rest of your life. You may still experience some of the dreaded symptoms because your body is learning how to function on much lower levels of estrogen. But our doctors won’t leave you high and dry.

Menopause

Once your ovaries have stopped ovulating, production of estrogen has declined, and you have missed your period for 12 consecutive months, you are officially menopausal. Throughout this phase, you may experience the worst of all those dreaded symptoms you’ve heard about… hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, moodiness, etc. But our docs are here to help.

Perimenopause

Otherwise known as “the transition,” but it’s not as dramatic as it sounds. Basically, it begins when your ovaries gradually produce less estrogen.
This stage can begin eight to 10 years leading up to menopause. And oh by the way, you’re still having periods throughout perimenopause but they may be getting a bit wacky – we can help.

The best treatment for menopause symptoms is Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT), also known as Hormone Replacement Treatment (HRT). Regarded as an estrogen therapy, it is a suitable option for alleviating menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats due to its beneficial effects outweighing potential risks. This type of treatment helps restore hormones that have dropped, which can provide relief from the uncomfortable signs associated with this stage of life.

Exercising regularly can help reduce the symptoms of menopause. Endorphins released during physical activity can minimize mood swings, while maintaining a healthy weight. Additionally, consuming calcium, vitamin D and phytoestrogens will also contribute to relief from your condition. Eating more fruits and vegetables as well as drinking plenty of water are beneficial in controlling associated issues too. To complete this effective natural menopause treatment regime, it is wise to identify any triggers that may cause an increased risk of discomfort then avoid them where possible. Reducing some foods such as processed meals could be very helpful for symptom management.

Fezolinetant (Veozah) is a hormone-free alternative for some menopausal women with symptom relief, which can help lessen hot flashes and night sweats, without the side effects associated with hormonal treatment.

A physician can offer hormone therapy, which may consist of prescribed hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. This treatment is used to help reduce the symptoms associated with menopause while managing any other related medical conditions.
